Frederick Taylor's "The Principles of Scientific Management" was the first business best seller and it influence spread around the world. In today's culture however many of Taylor's ideas would not be favorably received. For example, he says, "In our scheme, we do not ask initiative of our men. We do not want any initiative. All we want of them is to obey the orders we give them, do what we say, and do it quick."
