As the original governing document of the United States ofAmerica, the Articles of Confederation had a number of strengthsyet, perhaps, an even greater number of weaknesses. Foremost amongthese weaknesses were the following: Congress had no power oftaxation, no executive branch of government existed, and nojudicial system was formally established by it.
