The term "corrosive" can be applied to both acids and alkalis.The terms describes their effect not their composition or mode ofreaction. Also note it is not just acids and alkalis that can becalled corrosive, other chemicals can too.When relating to chemistry, "Corrosive" means capable ofdestroying solid materials, tending to eat away or consume.
