This would be someone's pure opinion. In my opinion, yes, the war would have lasted much longer;however, I believe the result would have been the same. The American Revolutionary War was much like the VietnamWar.The Continental Army, or United States Army, was very weak, disorganized, and were constantly defeated by the British forces intraditional combat (much like the North Vietnamese Army werecompared to NATO).However, the colonists also had militias and guerillas (or, we'dcall them terrorists, today), who would fight the British inunconventional ways that they [the British] were not capable offighting back. In other words, it's difficult to fight the personyou can't find.If France and Spain had refused to support the colonists, Ibelieve that the Continental Army would have been defeated;however, I believe that the American Guerrillas, or the equivalentof, would have been able to pressure the British to the point thatthey began to withdraw their forces. In comparison to Vietnam, one could easily compare:-The Continental Army to the North Vietnamese Army: the ideabeing that both armies were poorly trained, disorganized, and losta majority of battles.-The British Army to NATO (or the United States) Forces: astronger military, highly organized, highly trained, yet ended upabandoning the operation.-American Militia to the National Liberation Front (or VietCong, if that's the preferred term): primarily made upsingle-operating guerillas, little military training, terrorists.
