Keeping quails and caring for them is not difficult, however, it requires compliance with certain conditions and the use of a balanced feed.
It is necessary that there is always clean water in the drinkers, since quails drink a lot of it. Drinking water in warm rooms quickly deteriorates, and putrefactive bacteria are formed in it. Therefore, drinking water should be changed 1-2 times per day. The composition of the feed for quail includes corn and wheat grains, and also contains a small amount (up to 15%) of other grains. As additives, chalk, shell, premix, meal (soybean or sunflower) are added to the feed.
Quails up to three weeks of age are fed with PK-5 compound feed. The daily diet of the female contains about 30 g of feed, the male - 19 g. Special cages are used to keep adult quails. In the case of a large livestock, cage batteries are installed.
One of the main conditions for the correct keeping of birds is cleanliness in the cages. According to scientists, birds experience microbial stress when there is a high concentration of microorganisms in the cage. As a result of microbial stress, the productivity of birds decreases, and their viability decreases.
Therefore, it is necessary:
systematically clean the quail cages and the inventory in it;
change the litter regularly;
monitor the condition of the feeders, drinkers and, if necessary, thoroughly rinse them.
In addition, pets should be restricted from entering the premises: dogs, cats ...
Care includes the following operations:
cleaning of droppings in cages;
distribution of feed;
assembly of eggs;
room temperature control and ventilation.
For keeping quails, the optimum air humidity is 55-75%, and the temperature is 20-22C, a slight deviation of 4C is possible. However, it must be borne in mind that the egg production of birds decreases if the temperature is below 16C. A sand bath should be placed in the cage at least once a week so that the bird can get rid of the parasites.
