How to wash mirrors and glass streak-free?

1 Answer

Answer :

Dirty and stained window panes, mirrors on the walls and home furniture cause unpleasant feelings not only among guests, but also among the owners of the home. Attempts to wash all transparent and mirrored surfaces very often end up with streaks instead of dust and grease. With the wrong choice of means and method of cleaning, the chances of getting rid of the terrible streaks on the glass are reduced to zero.

Why do divorces appear?

wash mirrors and glass without streaksAfter spending a few hours cleaning the window, you may not achieve the perfect result. This is due to two factors:

pollution is poorly washed off;

poor quality cleaning agent;

Eliminating the first reason is simple - first you need to wash off all the grease, dirt and dust from the glass or mirror. This can be done with plain water mixed with dishwashing detergent (liquid!). All types of dirt are removed from the surface with a soft sponge or napkin, after which excess liquid is wiped off.

Special cleaning agents should be selected taking into account the fact that alcohol-containing ones do not leave streaks. But remember that many of them contain fragrances, fragrances and colors that can cause allergies .

Modern devices for washing glasses and mirrors

If earlier the housewives had only crumpled newspapers in their arsenal for polishing windows and mirrors, now their tools are much wider. Conservatives might be advised to use paper towels instead of newspapers. The soft texture of such wipes quickly absorbs excess moisture, as a result of which the surface is easily rubbed and does not leave streaks on it.

When cleaning windows, you can use special squeegee scrapers to remove water from the glass. Another option for polishing mirrors is microfiber napkins or old nylon tights. All of these devices not only help to get rid of stains, but also do not leave fibers and small dirt on the surface to be cleaned.

Folk cleaning methods

You can also replace expensive glass cleaning products with your own ones. After the bulk of the dirt is removed, it is necessary to give the surface a shine and get rid of streaks. A cut onion is great for this. It is rubbed onto a mirror or glass, and then the remaining juice is removed with a dry cloth (after 5 minutes) or paper. The onion smell, by the way, will scare away flies.

One of the most effective is considered to be cleaning the mirror with a wet cloth and regular chalk. After the entire surface has been processed, you must wait until the chalk deposits have completely dried and remove it with a dry cloth or napkin. And if you add ammonia to the water (1 tablespoon of alcohol per liter of liquid), you can get an excellent home remedy for cleaning windows that does not leave streaks.

If you don't have ammonia on hand, you can use regular alcohol or vinegar. But the applied layer of such a product must be very thin, otherwise stains will appear along with the shine. Citric acid has proven itself well. It is diluted with water in a ratio of 1: 5. If there is little dirt on the glass, then just cold water and a dry microfiber cloth or nylon cloths will do.

In the event that there is a need not only to get rid of contamination, to prevent stains, but also to prevent the appearance of condensation, you can use an unusual technique. For cleaning, you will need a linen or cotton cloth and shaving foam or fabric softener. Use a cloth with conditioner or foam to rub the mirror or glass until it is completely clean and dry.

If you want to shade the glass or mirror a little, you can apply one little trick. Rubbing with vitriol solution gives a light greenish tint. Thanks to the diluted blue, the windows acquire a pleasant bluish tinge. And another little secret - if you dilute 1 tbsp. l. starch with a liter of very cold water and rinse the glass with this composition, then it will not just shine, but sparkle.

What should not be done when washing windows and mirrors?

Do not use cleaning powders or soda to wash glass and mirror surfaces. You should be very careful about the recommendations of your friends about washing windows with salt water. This technique is only justified if the windows have wooden frames and have recently been covered with ice.

Do not wash reverse side mirrors. Contact of this surface with water and any cleaning agents will result in stains on the front side, which cannot be removed. It is undesirable to start cleaning windows in sunny weather. Glare on the glass will prevent you from seeing all the flaws, including streaks.

There are a lot of ways to wash glass without streaks. Choose any of them to your taste, and let the house sparkle with cleanliness!
