How to Remove Sap from a Car
Many car owners prefer to park under trees, so their vehicles won’t be exposed to too much heat. Unfortunately, there’s a drawback when you opt to place your car in the shade, and that is the tree sap that you’ll have to clean up later on. Sap stains on your car are unpleasant, but you can clean up this mess in an instant, if you have the right materials.
Use WD-40
This popular water-displacing spray can be used to remove stubborn sap all over your car. Here’s what to do.
What You’ll Need:
Water
Paper towels
WD-40 spray
Procedure:
Gather all the materials and put them near you.
Get the WD-40 bottle and spray some gently on the sap. Make sure you don’t spray too much, though. WD-40 can have many strong and harmful chemicals that might do harm to your car paint.
Leave the WD-40 on the sap for a minute or two. So it’ll loosen the stain. Afterwards, wet a paper towel, then start rubbing all over the affected surface, until the sap is totally gone.
Rinse the car with water to remove any residue.
Try General Spot Remover Products
There are many spot remover products available in the market today, ideal for indoor and outdoor use. Popular examples are Goof Off and Goo Gone. Using it is the same as using WD-40, but remember that you have to follow the manufacturer’s instructions, if there are any. For better results, repeat the method, and rinse with water afterwards.
Ordinary Household Products Work
You’ll be surprised to know that many of the solutions to your sap problem can be found inside and around your home. Here are several effective tactics many car owners turn to.
Nail polish remover - This works best on sap on windshield, as the remover can destroy the car paint. Put some on a cotton ball, then rub all over the area until the sap is gone.
Baking soda - Make a thick paste with it by mixing it with water, then put all over the sap. Wipe with a clean cloth afterwards.
Mayonnaise - It might seem ridiculous, but it’s said that this can effectively remove unpleasant sap stains.
Rubbing alcohol - Moist a cotton ball with it, then rub all over the affected area.
Dealing with a sappy problem doesn’t have to be a hassle. With these solutions, you can place your car under tree shades and not worry anymore.
