How to Make Cheesecake
A delicious slice of cheesecake is an unforgettable ending to a delicious and filling meal. While store-bought ones aren’t too expensive, isn’t it better to make one yourself, in your kitchen? It’s not that hard, as long as you know what to do.
What You’ll Need:
300 grams of crushed graham crackers or finely crumbled butter cookies
600 grams of cream cheese
400 grams of sour cream
Six eggs
A tablespoon of vanilla essence
110 grams of melted butter
520 grams of quark cheese or any soft white cheese of the low-fat variety
½ teaspoon of cinnamon
Raspberries, strawberries, blueberries or cherries
Sprig of mint (optional)
Whisk
Mixing bowl
Spring baking ring
Knife
Spatula
Procedure:
Preheat your oven, setting it to 300 degrees Fahrenheit. Afterwards, use a small amount of butter to grease the spring baking ring’s bottom. Set this aside.
If the cream cheese is hardened, take it out of the fridge and let it soften. This will make mixing it easier later.
Put the crushed graham crackers or butter cookies in the mixing bowl. Then add the butter and the cinnamon. Cinnamon adds flavor to the crust, but if you don’t have any at home, you can skip it. Mix the ingredients thoroughly, until you have a smooth crust mixture.
Transfer this mixture into the spring baking ring, and use a spatula or even your hands to press it down evenly (make sure you wash your hands before doing this though). Once set at the bottom of the ring, put it in the fridge and let stay there for five to ten minutes, or until it’s stiff enough.
Get a new mixing bowl and put the softened cream cheese in it. Add the quark cheese, vanilla essence and sugar. Fold and mix first with the spatula, then continue using the whisk. Keep mixing, until everything is blended evenly.
Crack open one egg then add it to the mixture. Stir again thoroughly. Keep doing this for the remaining eggs, stirring each one in turn.
Add the sour cream, then stir, but not beat, the mixture thoroughly.
Transfer the mixture into the baking ring, over the crust.
Put the cheesecake in the oven’s lowest part, and let it bake for an hour and 15 minutes.
Check if the cheesecake is done. It must be cooked, but with a slight wobbly consistency to it.
Take the ring out, then let it cool for several minutes. Afterwards, transfer it to your fridge and let it set for four hours.
Take the cheesecake out, then use knife to free it from the sides of the pan. Slide it around the sides carefully. When done, release the baking ring’s spring, then remove it.
Serve the cheesecake with raspberries, blueberries or cherries on top or on the side. You can also put a sprig of mint.
Once you perfect making a basic cheesecake, you can move on to other kinds, such as New York cheesecake and Oreo cheesecake. As long as you stick to this easy recipe, you’ll be a cheesecake whiz!
