How to Make a Centerpiece
A centerpiece is a lovely way to enhance your dinner table. It can also be adjusted to any way that is fits the theme of the dinner, whether it’s a wedding dinner, Thanksgiving or just a simple gathering of friends. A fruit centerpiece is a flexible and eatable centerpiece that can be enjoyed by everyone. Here’s how.
Materials
Watermelon
Spoon
Marker
Knives
Tools for garnishing
Pearl baller
Procedure
First, decide on what to use as the basket. Watermelons are usually the choice for fruit basket centerpieces, but melons and cantaloupes work well for smaller baskets. Pumpkins are the best choice for Fall fruit centerpieces.

Start your “blueprint” by drawing where the handles of the watermelon fruit centerpiece will be. Make sure that when you cut the watermelon open, you won’t graze where the handles should be.
Using a big knife, cut 1/4 of the watermelon off.
Get a smaller carving knife and define the edges of the watermelon basket and its handles. This must be precise. You will be adding the details later.
Use a pearl baller to scoop out the insides of the watermelon. Keep scooping until the watermelon is completely hollow, leaving only an inch-thick of watermelon flesh inside all throughout the bottom. Put them in a bowl, as they will be used later.
Use a small paring knife to cut a small round hollow on the bottom of the watermelon basket. This is done to keep the bowl stable. Just be careful not to cut too much into the fruit, as this will cause the fruit and juices to leak out.
Next, move on to the edges of the bowl. You can refine it a little more by carving out the handles. Make the edges look more interesting by making zigzag patterns by cutting vertically on the horizontal edge.
Use garnishing tools such as a zester and a peeler to cut patterns into the watermelon skin. If you want the fruit centerpiece to be more specialized, you can incorporate the appropriate design or theme into it.
Mix in fruit slices with the watermelon balls you made earlier into the bowl. Add blueberries, strawberries, raspberries and kiwis into the mix. You can also add yogurt, port, a splash of **** or gelatin as according to your tastes.
