How to Clean a Hot Tub
You get into a hot tub to wash yourself until you’re squeaky clean, but what if the hot tub is the one that needs cleaning? It’s important to keep this installation germ and bacteria-free all the time, so here are some tips on how to clean your bath tub.
What You’ll Need:
Cleaning chemicals (check which ones go well with your hot tub)
Sample sticks
Scrubber
Chlorine tablets
Garden Hose
Filter Cleaners
Maintaining The Right Chemical Levels
This is one of the first steps in keeping a hot tub clean. If the chemical levels in the tub become too high or too low, cleaning it becomes more tedious. You must always make sure that your hot tub always has the right chemical levels. To do this, purchase a water sampler of any type. You can buy this from pool maintenance stores or even at Walmart.
Getting The Right Chemicals
A hot tub can have various foreign materials and hard water elements that can stick to it quickly. To remove these, you need to get the proper chemicals that suit your tub and water’s condition. Since the elements can be hard to diagnose, get some sample and bring it to a local pool store. They can assist and inform you which chemicals you can buy.
Draining And Scrubbing The Tub
After you have the chemicals you need, you have to drain the tub, but don’t refill it just yet. Scrub the floor and walls of the tub first, since bacteria sticks to these places.
Get your chemical and apply it to the hot tub using your scrubber.
If you don’t have the chemicals, use a bleach solution or a tub-safe cleanser instead.
Scrub the walls, floor and even the deck and surfaces to release the dirt.
Make sure the scrubber you’re using is not very abrasive, otherwise you’ll end up doing more harm than good to your hot tub. To see if it’s abrasive, test it first in an inconspicuous part of the tub, and check if marks are left. If there are, use another scrubber.
When you’ve scrubbed all areas, rinse the chemical out of the hot tub.
Disinfecting The Tub
To disinfect your hot tub and pool, add in some chlorine tablets at least once a week, so it will be sanitized fully. Chlorine reduces harmful effects of materials found in the water, keeping the users safe.
Chlorine is the most popular disinfectant used in hot tubs and in pools. It reduces the harmful effects of water for the users safety. It is recommended to put chlorine tablets in the tub once a week for it to be fully sanitized.
Cleaning The Filters
Hot tub filters should be cleaned at least once every couple of weeks, especially if it’s used regularly. You can easily purchase a commercial cleaning solution, or you can use a garden hose to spray on the filter and remove unwanted dirt. Try to replace the filter once every year, too.
One reminder: Make sure the filter and the pumps are turned off before doing any cleaning task This prevents physical injuries from happening.
Once you’ve done all these, you can now refill the tub with clean water. Soak in, relax, and enjoy a fresh and cozy hot bath in your clean tub.
