How to Clean a Microwave
Microwave ovens are one of the most used kitchen appliances people have in their households. As a result, it’s one of the appliances that get dirty in a short span of time. Here are the different ways you can make your microwave looking and smelling clean again.

Lemons and Water Method
What You Need
One whole lemon
One cup water
Microwave safe cup
Cleaning rag, scouring pad or sponge
What to Domicrowave oven
Squeeze a whole lemon into a cup of water and mix. Remove any seeds.
Put the cup in the microwave oven
Heat the water to boiling, or set to heat for two to three minutes.
Let it sit for another minute.
Open the microwave and remove the cup. The evaporated lemon juice and water will have loosened the dirt from the microwave’s interior. Use a damp cloth to clean the dirt away. Keep the microwave oven after cleaning to air-dry.
An alternative is to slice a lemon in half and place the slices with the cut sides down on a plate. Add a tablespoon of water on the plate, and heat for two minutes. Take out the plate and clean the microwave.
Baking Soda Method
What You Need
Baking soda
Microwave safe cup
Damp cloth or scouring pad
Measuring spoons
What to Do
Make a cleaning solution made from baking soda and water by mixing four tablespoons of baking soda with a quart of water. Mix until the baking soda has dissolved, and use as cleaning solution for the interior of the microwave. Wipe dry after removing the dirt.
Another way to use baking soda for cleaning the microwave is by mixing three tablespoons of baking soda with a cup of water. Mix well until the baking soda has dissolved. Put the cup in the microwave and heat for two to three minutes until the water boils. Leave it to sit for a minute, take the cup out, and clean off the loosened dirt using a damp cloth.
Leaving a box of baking soda inside the microwave when not in use will also help prevent it from accumulating odors.
