How to Decorate a Bedroom
Your bedroom is probably going to be the room in your house you’re going to spend the most time in. This means that everything in your bedroom must be geared towards both your taste and comfort. Here’s how to decorate a bedroom.
Clean the room thoroughly. Decorating a bedroom means you need to start with a figurative and literal blank slate. Take this opportunity to clear out the bedroom and clean it thoroughly.
Take the measurements of your room. This will help you choose furniture and the layout of the room later on.

Choose a theme. A theme can be a literal theme, such as a garden theme, a sports theme or an 80s theme. If you don’t feel like having a theme, you can simply choose a color palette to follow for your theme. Choose an overall color and the accent colors. Choosing a theme or a room color helps tie up a room together and keeps it looking interesting. The right colors can help correct bedroom flaws like, for example, the size of a bedroom or a bedroom’s lack of light.
Plan your bedroom’s layout. Using the bedroom measurements you’ve taken, assign the maximum dimensions to each furniture that will occupy your room. This will help you avoid getting furniture that might be too big or too small for your room.
Shop for furniture. Look for items that have colors and design that will look interesting and fit in your theme. Not everything has to match, but it should all tie in with each other. Find a carpet that will fit your color scheme as well. Make sure that you have the essentials, such as a bed, an
armoire, drawers and cabinets to put your things on.
Paint your walls with your chosen color theme. Let it dry.
Lay down the carpet, if you are using one.
Bring in the furniture, and arrange it in such a way that will have room for movement in all parts of the room. Don’t block windows and other light sources.
Accessorize your room by using pictures, rugs, curtains, paintings, matching sheets and pillowcases. It’s these little touches that make the room look more interesting.
Install room lights. Mood lights help make you feel more relaxed and at home in the bedroom.
