The cookbook, considered as the cooking bible, is a cook’s ultimate instrument for preparing tasty cuisines. It maps out the ingredients and instructions on how to create a particular dish. Moms and chefs have a comprehensive collection of cookbooks, so they can create a wide array of cuisines coming from different parts of the globe. Cheap as most cookbooks are, you can get one for free by compiling your own set of recipes.
Cookbook Woes
A purchased cookbook contains hundreds of recipes for you to choose from. The question is, how many of them will you use? Remember, when buying a cookbook, you are also paying for the dishes that you won’t even dare to cook in your lifetime. You might as well compile a nearly costless cookbook with recipes that you will surely follow. Now that’s a total bang for the buck.
The Internet is a Comprehensive Resource for Recipes
Technology has reached the realm of cooking, in terms of making life more convenient. The internet comes as the most comprehensive cookbook available. By going online, you have access to more than a million recipes worldwide. If you are quite the online sleuth, you might even find more than a few secret recipes (KFC gravy, Mc Donalds French Fries, etc) lying around in some of the sites. You can get the recipe for any dish, as long as you have an internet connection. Just select the best recipe among the dozens of variations you will find.
Peers’ and Neighbors’ Signature Recipes
Cooking is a passion shared by millions of people around the world. Naturally, some of the people you know love cooking and probably have signature dishes. These dishes have been “perfected” and in most cases, modified to have pleasantly distinct flavors. You can convince your family and friends to email you some of their signature recipes, so you can compile them along with the recipes you found in cooking websites.
Know Your Cuisines
Country-specific cuisines, despite varying in taste, bear a general flavor or characteristic that can be found in all dishes that originate from the same country. For instance, Indian food is known for its spicy and flavorful dishes while French food is unrivaled with the taste and consistency of its sauces. With good knowledge about the cuisines of different countries, compiling a cookbook with 100% useful recipes is easy.
Beverages
No comprehensive cookbook is complete without beverages. You should know that a suitable drink can accentuate a meal’s lusciousness. Take the case of steak and red ****. Red ****’s flavor mixes well with the steak’s, as the flavors blend to create a single pleasant taste. If you have many recipes for *********, smoothies and juice mixes, your meals will instantly be more versatile. Now let’s proceed to your cookbook’s creation.
Materials Used:
cookbook
computer
internet access
printer
a ream of bond paper
puncher
folder
fastener
Procedure:
Open an internet browser window on your computer.
Go to a reputable search engine (Google, Yahoo, etc.).
Search for a specific type of cuisine (Japanese food recipe, Thai food recipe, etc.)
Go to the cooking/recipe website and print the recipes that you like.
Repeat steps 3 and 4 until you have all your favorite country-specific recipes.
For restaurant specialties, return to the search engine and key in the name of the particular dish that you like. (Kentucky Fried Chicken Gravy recipe, Krispy Kreme Honey Glazed Doughnut Recipe, etc.)
Print the recipes.
For alcoholic beverages and smoothies, return to the search engine and key in “******** Recipe” or “Smoothie Recipe.” Select your desired beverages then print their corresponding recipes.
Open a new document on your computer’s word processor (MS Word, Open Office, etc) and create labels for proper recipe segregation, one label per page. For instance, create a page that simply says “Italian Cuisines,” another for “Thai Cuisines,” and so forth.
Print the label pages.
Create a table of contents page on your word processor. Make the list alphabetical, in accordance to the labels.
Print the table of contents.
With all the necessary pages printed, collate the recipes according to the labels then arrange each label/category following the table of contents.
Punch holes on a folder large enough to carry all the recipes. Do the same for the recipes, label pages, and the table of contents.
Insert a fastener through the folder and the bond papers then clasp it shut.
If your friends emailed you their recipes, check your email account and the print the attachments. Label the recipes “Signature Recipes,” insert the category in the table of contents, then compile them along with the rest of the other recipes.
Why Buy, When You Can Always Produce a Cookbook?
With the internet available, purchasing a cookbook suddenly becomes expensive and unnecessary. You can have all the recipes that you like for a minimal, or even no cost at all. If you don’t have an internet connection at home, you can always make your cookbook at a computer shop, your neighbor’s place or in the office. Remember, cooking doesn’t always have to be pricey, especially if you have the right tools with you.
