: Encephalitis lithargica is a mysterious form of encephalitis. The disease was first described in 1918 by neuroscientist Constantine von Iconomo. The person with this disease has brain damage , the patient loses speech and mobility. Between 1915 and 1926, the encephalitis lithargica epidemic spread around the world. Although epidemics have not occurred since then, isolated cases of some people have been reported. # The cause of the disease is terrible. No suitable explanation has been found yet as to what is the cause of this disease. A 2004 study found that a group of patients with encephalitis lithargica developed pharyngitis caused by the Streptococcus bacteria. According to some, the presence of buck , pig and special type of Culex mosquito together can spread the deadly disease encephalitis. Initially, there were five more common fever symptoms, but the disease quickly spread to the human brain. # Symptoms The primary symptoms of this disease are similar to malaria , dengue or five other fevers. However, the germs of encephalitis damage the brain very quickly. So it is too late to understand the disease. Symptoms of this disease include fever , sore throat and headache , lethargy , seeing one thing twice , in any case late response physically and mentally , reversal during sleep, i.e. waking up at night and sleeping during the day. In the final stages of the disease, the patient may go into a coma. The patient may also have abnormal eye movements , Parkinson's disease , upper body weakness , muscle aches , tremors , inability to move the neck, and behavioral changes. # Treatment Since the cause of the disease is still a mystery , there is no cure yet. In the early stages of the disease, it becomes difficult to keep the body stable. Many times patients get better results if they take steroids. However, he lost the ability to move or speak. Gradually the patient's brain begins to lose its function. A drug called Levodopa (L-DOPA) was administered in the 1960's , but none of the patients survived.
