The simplest instrument for measuring length in the laboratory is the meter scale. Its length is 1 meter or 100 centimeters. This is why it is called meter scale. This scale has cuts in centimeters on one side and inches on the other side. Each centimeter is divided into ten equal parts. Each of these parts is called 1 millimeter or 0.1 centimeter. Each inch is divided into equal eight parts , ten parts or sixteen parts. Measurement with the help of meter scale: The length of the rod or stick to be measured with the help of meter scale should be placed at the 0 point of the scale or at any convenient point. At the other end of the bar, you have to take the lessons of the scales that are mixed with the scales. The length of the bar is the result of the subtraction of the text on both sides of the bar. The length of the bar is usually measured if the left end of the scale is to be placed at the x - point of the scale . Lengths up to millimeters can be measured accurately with the help of this scale. The Vernier scale is to be used for more precise measurements.
