“ Ignorance breeds fear , fear breeds hatred, and hatred breeds violence. That is the rule. " - Ibn Rushd Greek philosophy was viewed with suspicion in Arabia until the eighth century. Philosophy was thought to be in conflict with religion. However, Mutazila (who did not consider philosophy to be in conflict with religion) found Greek philosophy to be somewhat acceptable in the introduction of theology. But the 'Ash'ari' theory, introduced by Imam Abu al-Hasan al-Ash'ari, began to oppose philosophy anew, and they began to call all kinds of arguments and questioning 'disbelief'. Ibn Rushd has written his philosophy in such a hostile environment. He must have accepted the Qur'an as the true book. However, he said that many things in the Qur'an have a deep meaning , which requires philosophy to understand. It was the generous patronage of the dynasty for which he was involved in politics that helped him to carry on his philosophy. However, he had to be exiled in the face of a growing anti-liberal philosophy movement. Fortunately, before his deportation, Rushd wrote his best-selling book, The Decisive Treats. “Those who think and study about the creation of the heavens and the earth.” - Surah Al-Imra ; Verse 191 "Therefore , O you who have eyesight, learn." - Surah Al-Hashr ; Verse 2 Ibn Rushd begins his discussion of why philosophy is important in his decisive treatise with the above two verses from the Holy Quran. According to him , philosophers and lawyers take the same approach. Lawyers learn certain clauses in advance and use them as needed. In the same way, the creation of philosophers and other spiritual philosophies come mainly from religion. The scriptures tell man to think and he sets the limits of thought. On the other hand, the traditional practice of spreading knowledge is that from the practice of knowledge of a scholar, his next generation will acquire, expand and reject knowledge in the light of truth and falsehood . If one's philosophy is true , then one should adopt that philosophy even if his religion is different. Just as the products used in a religious ceremony may not always be made by people of one's own religion. So philosophy and religion are never in conflict.
