The son acquires the characteristics of a father. Father's sex chromosome is XY and mother's sex chromosome is XX . If the mother's X chromosome coincides with the father's X chromosome during sexual intercourse , then the child will be XX i.e. daughter. And if the mother's X chromosome coincides with the father's Y , then the child will be XY , that is, the boy. So the son acquires the characteristics of a father.
