Why ammonia gas spreads faster than hydrogen chloride gas ?

1 Answer

Answer :

The lower the molecular mass, the higher the diffusion rate. The molecular mass of hydrogen chloride is less than that of ammonia gas. Therefore, the diffusion rate of hydrogen chloride gas is higher. Hydrogen chloride gas spreads rapidly due to high diffusion rate.
