Shahabuddin Nagri is a renowned Bengali poet and writer of Bangladesh. He is a modern romantic poet who is known as a poet of 1970s. He is highly regarded as a children's writer. His rhymes became very popular in the mid-1980s. At the same time, he has been able to establish himself in the cultural arena of Bangladesh as a novelist , short story writer , lyricist , composer , singer and playwright. By writing columns in newspapers and magazines in the 1990s, he gained the respect of a wider readership. He took an active part in the liberation war of 1971. In terms of livelihood, he is a government employee. A piece of his land was screened at the 2006 Film Festival in Kolkata . Although he has long been known as a children's writer, from the beginning of the 21st century he has become famous mainly as a poet and a singer.
