Under the current 18th Arms Act and 1924 Arms Rules of Bangladesh, military / civilian / other persons are given licenses for prohibited bore firearms. Anyone can apply for a maximum of two firearms licenses. The age condition of the applicant should be minimum 30 (thirty) years in case of barrel firearms and minimum 25 (twenty five) years in case of long barrel. The applicant must be an income tax payer. In case of industrialists / prominent businessmen, a minimum income of Rs. 2.0 (two lakhs) per annum has to be paid. The police report has to be in favor of the applicant. All types of licenses are prohibited by the concerned Deputy Commissioner. However, in the case of issuance of pistol and revolver licenses, the District Magistrates will conduct a personal interview with the applicant and verify the actual requirements and send the revolver / pistol license recommendation to the Ministry of Home Affairs for prior approval. A licensee has to present the purchased weapon to the licensing authority within 6 (six) days of the purchase of the weapon and record the information of the weapon in the license. If the applicant is a person covered under the Army Act (Military Officer) then he can apply on the recommendation of the appropriate authority through the concerned District Magistrate of his permanent residence. All applications for firearms license have to be submitted to the concerned district magistrate. Civilian officers / employees may renew their firearms licenses from the District Magistrate nearest to their place of work / current residence due to transfer or retirement as an employee of the Republic. Information on such renewal must be communicated to the Licensing Authority (concerned District Magistrate). According to Rule 50 of Chapter-III of the Arms Rules 1924 , if any person applies for the transfer of firearms license, it will be disposed of by the District Magistrates on a regular basis. However, in this case, the licensing authority must have no objection. Thanks
