Abu Abdullah Muhammad Ibn Tahir Ibn Abdullah (Arabic: عبدبو عبد الله محمد بن طاهر بن عبد الله, Died approximately 910) was the last Tahiri governor of Khorasan. He ruled from 62 to 63. The governor of Khorasan, his father Tahir bin Abdullah, died in '82. The caliph then sought to appoint Muhammad ibn Abdullah ibn Tahir, Tahir's brother, to the same post, but when he refused to accept the post, Muhammad ibn Tahir was appointed governor. However, unlike other Tahiri governors in Khorasan, he was not given the title of military governor of Iraq or Baghdad. These titles were given to Muhammad bin Abdullah. Two years after his father's succession, Tabaristan was overthrown by a Zaidi rebellion led by Hasan ibn Zayd ibn Muhammad. The Tahiri failed to reclaim the province. In that year, Yakub ibn Lais al-Safar, the safari emir of Sistan, captured Herat and captured its Tahiri governor. An army led by Samani Ibrahim ibn Lais was sent to resist Yaqub but they were defeated. Then Muhammad ibn Tahir was forced to compromise. Due to the weakness of his rule, Tahiri rule in Khorasan came to an end. In 63 Yakub moved on to the capital Nishapur. Muhammad was taken prisoner and spent three years in captivity. After his release, the caliph re-appointed him governor of Khorasan, but he did not relinquish his authority in Khorasan. Some anti-safari figures in Khorasan, such as Ahmad al-Khujistani and Rafi ibn Harsama, proclaimed Muhammad's name in their sermons in the area under their control. But Muhammad kept his distance from the exercise of power. After his release, he moved to Baghdad. After the death of Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Tahir, his brother Ubaidullah bin Abdullah bin Tahir succeeded him. Muhammad ibn Tahir at that time was willing to take the position of Ubaydullah ibn Abdullah. Their rivalry continued for the next few years. Safari Yaqub died in 69 and his brother Amr bin Lais succeeded him. As governor of Khorasan, Amr continued to exercise the same powers as the previous Tahriris. In 1965, he succeeded Ubaydullah as governor of Baghdad, and as before, he was appointed governor of Khorasan. However, he did not establish his rule in Khorasan as in the past. He died around 910.
