Breast cancer is a terrible but easily treatable disease and 90% of cases can be completely cured if it is detected at an early stage. And the easiest way to detect early stage breast cancer is to get tested regularly. All women between the ages of 15 and 45/50 should have their breasts examined regularly once a month. Those who are pregnant or breastfeeding should have regular breast examinations by a physician. The best time to have a normal breast exam is 3 to 5 days after menstruation. Breast examination is a very simple task. It is usually possible to do this in 5 steps: Step 1: Stand with your shoulders straight in front of the mirror, place your hands on your hips and look at your breasts and notice 1. The size , shape and color of your breasts. 2. Whether the breasts have the same shape apparently without swelling or distortion. Consult a doctor immediately if you notice any of the following changes: 1. Wrinkles , swollen skin or dimples on the skin (much like orange peel) 2. Wounds or red spots or swollen areas on the breast. 3. Replacement nipple or wrinkled or inserted nipple. Step 2: Now raise both hands over your head and notice the changes described in the previous step again. Step 3: Now while standing in front of the mirror, notice if any kind of liquid (like water or yellow or blood) is coming out of your nipple (from one or both). Step 4: Now lie down and press your left breast with your right hand. In this case, use your fingers together (not the palms of your hands). Slowly rotate the hand like a disc and feel it. Examine the whole breast in this way (from the upper collarbone to the abdomen and from one side to the other and of course the armpits in the same way). Examine the right breast with the left hand in the same way. When doing this test, make sure that your entire breast has been examined. In this case you can go from the nipple to the outside in a circular motion or you can examine the whole breast up and down. Make sure you feel all the tissues (from the skin to the nipples below the breasts). Apply light pressure to the skin and lower part of the skin , medium pressure to the middle part of the breast and deep pressure to feel the lower part of the breast. Step 5: Now sit or stand and examine your breasts again in the manner described in the previous step. This step can also be done while taking a bath , as it is convenient to check that the skin is wet and slippery at that time.
