How many rak'ahs of Tarabeeh prayer is it a dispute? Some people say that Tarabeeh with Vitr is 41 rak'ats. That is, if Vitr is 3 rak'ats, Tarabeeh will be 36 rak'ats. Or 1 rak'at of Vitr and 40 rak'ats of Tarabeeh. Thus Tarabeeh and Vitr are combined: Some say 39 rak'ats (Tarabeeh 36 + Vitr 3) Some say 29 rak'ats (Tarabeeh 26 + Vitr 3) Some say 23 rak'ats (Tarabeeh 20 + Vitr 3) Some say 19 rak'ats (Tarabeeh 18 + Vitr 3) Some Said 13 rak'ats (Tarabeeh 11 + Vitr 3) Someone said 11 rak'ats (Tarabeeh 8 + Vitr 3) According to Hanafi Madhhab, Tarabeeh prayer is 20 rak'ats. Document for 20 rak'ats of Tarabeeh Salat: Document for 20 rak'ats of Tarabeeh Salat without Vitr is Hadith No. 630 narrated from Musannaf AH Razayak , where it is stated: (Ie Tarabeeh 20 and Vitr 1 rak'at). Abdullah bin Abbas (R) said that the night prayer of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was 13 rak'ahs. (Bukhari: 1138 ; Muslim: 64) Aisha (R) said that he did not pray more than 11 rak'ats in Ramadan and other times (at night). (Bukhari: 2013 ; Muslim: 636) That is, Tarabeeh is 8 rak'ats and Vitr is 3 rak'ats. Ibn Yazid (may Allah be pleased with him) said : Umar ibn Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) (his two companions) instructed Ubayy ibn Kab Tamim Addari to perform 11 rak'ats of Qiyamullail (ie Tarabeehr) with the people (on the night of Ramadan). (Muwatta Malek: 1/115) It should be noted that in the mosques of Saudi Arabia, Tarabeeh and Vitr are recited together for 11 or 13 rak'ats, but in the Haram of Makkah and in the mosque of Madinah, Tarabeeh is recited for a total of 23 rak'ats. Basically, the main point of Tarabi is to perform Salat on a long Qiyam, that is, to perform it while standing for a long time. It would have been almost Fajr to finish the 8 rak'ats of the Prophet (peace be upon him). At present in our subcontinent there is a lot of controversy over the number of rak'ahs of this prayer. The main thing is that you will perform Qiyam with the Imam from beginning to end, whether it is 8 rak'ats or 20 rak'ats. There is no room for division among ourselves over the number of rak'ahs because the Prophet (peace be upon him) did not fix the number of rak'ahs but it is open. In the light of the above hadith, subject to discussion, which of the following is the most acceptable of the differences of opinion regarding the number of Tarabeeh : Imam Malik of the Maliki school said : Imam Shafi'i of the Shafi'i school said that he saw Tarabeeh reciting 36 rak'ats in Madinah and 20 rak'ats in Makkah. The Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia, Allama Muhammad bin Saleh Al-Othaimeen (may Allah be pleased with him) has given precedence to the masala of 10 and eight rak'ats. In order to resolve such differences, Shaykh al-Islam Imam Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allah be pleased with him) said : It is better to recite a large number of rak'ats. And if one wants to recite a small number of rak'ahs, then he should prolong the recitation , qiyaam , ruku 'and sijdah. He further said that Tarabeeh should not be limited to the number of rak'ats but should be evaluated by the amount of time spent. Because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) spent only 5 hours out of 11 rak'ahs. The Qiyaam of Salat used to be so long that the Companions used to stand on sticks. Finally, Imam Ibn Taymiyyah (R) has expressed another opinion, saying that in the overall analysis it is better to recite Tarabeeh 20 rak'ats. Because it is between 10 and 40 rak'ats and most of the Muslim acts are on it. According to the usual rules, it is obligatory to perform four rak'ats of Isha prayer and two rak'ats of Sunnat and two rak'ats before Vitr prayer.
