For those of you who use Facebook's applications, why do you use them?

I used to sign up in a flurry with all my friends, play with them for a week, then delete them. In my experience the fun wears off rather quickly. Now, I ignore them unless they have some sort of real purpose…not just biting zombies for hours on end.

I hadn't really noticed the change and have never found the Trending stuff particularly useful. There was that ... news. The change may be related to that but the vagaries of FB are always a mystery.

Last Answer : It’s buggy. Well it is on my iPad first gen, iOS 5. I’ve learnt to deal with the crashes and freezing, and I suggest you do the same too. Or you could try using FB through safari.

Last Answer : From what I've heard, you can opt out of individual posts showing up. I'm not sure if you can opt out of the ticker completely. Like many things about FB, it is unclear, imposed and ... I would imagine you would still show up on others. Yet another reason I am considering canceling my account.

Last Answer : Aw, hell no. I send out cards about every five years, just becauseI want to. I grew up in a culture of obligation and reciprocity, where copious notes were made on who sent what, how personal ... cards, and sometimes I enjoy sending them. Pretty sure my holidays are much happier than hers ever were.

Last Answer : No. I didn't tell anyone but my husband until much later. I had to figure out how I was going to deal with it myself before I started answering anyone's questions. Last Answer : No one person consistently any more; I tend to take them away myself. But I have several great women friends who will lend an empathetic ear. I think it’s hard to live alone but it’s harder to live a dry life.

Last Answer : My father died a couple of months back. Mine was the last comment on his page. I know I’m not removing him from my friends list, although I may ask Facebook to remove the page when I’m ready.
