On the other hand, there are plenty of reasons why someone might operate multiple chat sockpuppets. Sometimes it’s to create a false sense of importance for themselves. Sometimes it’s for spam – one puppet would say, “Hey, I need something good to read” and the other puppet might say, “Oh, then check out my blog at [link]!”. Sometimes it’s to create controversy, or pretend more people agree with a political position than who really do, so as to inflate the perceived support out there.
