answer:Bras are symbolic of women for many reasons. One is, it is a garment men don’t wear. Women still now, and especially the last ten year, wear a ridiculous amount of squeeze into undergarments. A very popular brand is Spanx. Thank God some reports are coming out about how bad they can be for you. I see women especially on TV who are so obviously “spanked” from the bra line to the thighs it is ridiculous. They can barely move. I think we had a lull during the 70’s and 80’s where women were less sucked in, and less pushed up. We were naturally thinner than today, and some of the clothing styles were more structured, especially in the 80’s, so the very uncomfortable garments were less necessary. I think women, especially over the age of 50, would still like to be liberated from feeling like they have to have zero wrinkles and wear a size 4. I’m not sure if men put more pressure on them or women do to conform to some sort of ideal. Men certainly don’t help by being attracted to younger women; so many of them are.
