Any recommendations for wood stoves?

We had a fireplace insert decades ago. It put out heat, of course, but in no way compared to our free standing, cast iron fireplace which could heat up a small city . It looked cool to me; that’s a matter of taste of whether you like a rustic look. For safety, we never gave it a second thought.
