When the efficiency of the alternator is maximum or on what factor the efficiency of the alternator depends?

1 Answer

Answer :

Efficiency of an alternator depends on its load power factor for a given load. As the power factor decreases Ia increases and the copper losses increases and thus efficiency decreases. The efficiency for given load is maximum only when the power factor is unity and it decreases as the power factor fall.
