Many of the costumes that you can purchase are designed for the masses. Because costumes are normally mass-manufactured, it is becoming increasingly hard to buy a costume and stay different from everyone else. If you want to stand out at Halloween costume parties, you may want to try creating a homemade car costume. Making such a costume does not require any sewing skills. In fact, you can make your car costume with a cardboard box and just a few other things for accessories. This can also help you save a lot of money if you use scrap materials around your house for this costume. Try to find a rectangular box around your home. The box should be able to fit the person who plans to wear the car costume. The box should be able to go from the middle of the person's thigh to just above the person's waist. It should also fit around the person's stomach and his with a little room left over. After you find the box you need to cut a square at the top and at the bottom of the box. The square should be big enough for a person to fit inside. You should also make sure that the box protrudes more in the front than in the back. Punch holes in the front and back of the box. After doing so, thread ribbon through the holes. This will make suspenders. They should go over the shoulders and hold the top of the box a little above the waist. Now you can paint the box. You can try to imitate the color of your favorite car. You can also get creative and make designs all over the car. You can use tempera craft paint or acrylic paint. Remember to let the first coat dry for a little while before you put on the second coat. Finally you will need to paint, draw or glue on any final details. This can include outlining the doors and handles of the car. You can also use foil for headlights and plastic plates for the wheels. Foil can also be used for the license plate.
