What's the difference between a thermometer and a temperature sensor?

A thermometer has Mercury inside it and if the temperature increases, the mercury expands and due to it we come to know that the temperature is increasing. A temperature sensor is a device which is used to sense the temperature. A thermometer consists of a temperature sensor at the top and the mercury meter below it.
