In order to run a background check someone needs to have access to your social security number. This is because your social is soley yours were as if you've ever searched the internet you know that more then one person can have your name. With out your social that background checker has to figure out which one is you...it's hard but works the same way. After this they have your entire record with everything you've ever written your social on.
