Abilene, TX is a town that resides in two different counties inwest central Texas. On the west side of the city is the Dyess AirForce Base, and there are three lakes that are found within thecity also. Abilene, TX was the first city in Texas to create adowntown reinvestment zone.Within Abilene, TX is found the Abilene park system. This parksystem occupies 1,247.56 acres of land and consists of 29 differentparks. Under the jurisdiction of the parks are three athleticcomplexes.Another popular attraction found within Abilene, TX is theAbilene Zoo. It houses several hundred animals of differentspecies.
