What paintwork materials are used in construction?
Whatever the building material, it needs protection from external factors. Whether it be wood, concrete or metal, it doesn't matter. The important thing is that all of these materials are subject to destruction over time.
To prevent natural changes from occurring on different surfaces and to prolong the life of these surfaces, people have come up with different methods. And one of them is the application of paintwork materials to the surface.
concrete floor paintAny paint consists of a base with binders and pigments dissolved in it. Drying, the paint forms a durable protective coating, in addition, gives the surface color. There are interior paints, intended for interior work, and facade - for exterior work, for example, paint on concrete for floors . Paints are emulsion, oil (enamel and alkyd) and silicate - depending on the base used.
Emulsion paints are widely used in the construction market. These are latex, acrylic, water-dispersion. These products are in the greatest demand in construction - up to 80%. The binder components in them are polymers: polyvinyl acetates, acrylates, latex and others. Emulsion paints are distinguished by ease of application, coating strength, environmental friendliness, and economy. They retain their color for a long time. Therefore, they are the best suited for interior work.
Alkyd materials are produced on the basis of alkyd resins and drying oils. They are perfectly distributed over the surface, differ in the strength of the coating, but have one drawback - they dry for a long time.
The next type of paints is silicate: lime, cement. They are based on liquid glass, and lime, talc, chalk and other silicates are used for fillers. They are mainly used for facade work. They paint brick, concrete, plastered surfaces. Silicate paints are also capable of imparting good fire resistance to wood.
