Yes, it is not a constant. The force of gravity is related tothe distance from the centre of the earth so that the force ofgravity will be slightly reduced at altitudes. Also, the earth isnot a perfect sphere - it bulges at the equator and is flatter atthe poles. So the force of gravity will be greater at the poles.The force of gravity is also affected by what is under the surface:if standing over dense rocks, the force will be greater.
