Dog treats – Sweet potato chews

1 Answer

Answer :

Dehydrated sweet potatoes are great snacks for both dogs and people. They are more concentrated than any other preserved form because they retain the most nutrients, and are a quality natural food.

People always think that they need a food dehydrator to process them. In fact, you just use the oven to make homemade sweet potato chews.

Ingredients:

1 sweet potato

Instructions:

1. Wash the sweet potato thoroughly. (No need to peel)

2. Preheat oven to 225°F.

3. Cut the sweet potato into 1/4 inch thin slices. (If you have the mandoline, will be a lot easier. )

4. Grease a baking sheet and place slices on the baking sheet.

5. Bake about 4 hours.

Note:

Baking time depends on the thickness of sweet potato slices. The thicker the slices, the longer the heating time.

You could bake less time to make them softer and chewier; You could bake more time to make them dryer and crunchier.

The higher oven heat setting, the less heating time.

You could keep sweet potato chews for two weeks in the refrigerator ; freeze them for about 3 months.

The homemade sweet potato chews is cheaper and healthier than the store-bought. Dogs do love them.
