Microsoft responded quickly to this issue and released the necessary updates. What’s unprecedented is that updates have been made even for versions of Windows that have long been unsupported. For example, Windows XP Updates can be downloaded from: Windows Server 2003 SP2 x64Windows Server 2003 SP2 x86Windows XP SP2 x64Windows XP SP3 x86Windows XP Embedded SP3 x86Windows 8 x86Windows 8 x64 Unfortunately, I do not know that these updates can only be installed on legitimate systems. I didn’t link to Windwos 10 because it automatically updated itself against the virus. Incidentally, Microsoft has reportedly patched this vulnerability in the past, and this new virus poses a threat only to those who have turned off automatic updates on their machines.
