How to Hide a Scar
Scars are not very nice to look at, especially when they’re on visible parts of your body. It’s hard to cover them up with clothing, particularly during summer. So what do you do, when you’re tired of wearing long-sleeved tops or jeans to hide your scars? Here are a few suggestions.
Tips:
Change your hairstyle. Bangs are convenient cover ups for scars on the forehead.
Use cosmetic make up. There are numerous concealers and foundations to choose from. Find the right shade that suits your skin tone. Put a small amount of concealer on your finger and place it over your scar. Spread it evenly on the area. Use foundation to properly cover up the scar.
Buy camouflage make up. You can ask your doctor where to buy one. It hides scars more effectively than ordinary make up does.
Get a tattoo. If you have quite a big scar that is hard to hide with makeup, try getting a tattoo. This will not only hide your scar, you can also use this as an opportunity for self expression.
Have a collagen or steroid injection. These substances can change the appearance of a scar.
Laser Removal. This procedure can be a bit expensive and requires a lot of treatments, but works as well as other methods.
Home remedies:
Raw potato. Potatoes are great for acne scars. You can grate one, put the grated potatoes on a cloth, squeeze, and use the substance on your face. You may also just remove the skin, cut it and rub the potato on your scar.
Silicon gel helps by altering the scar’s collagen fiber and making it blend with the surrounding area.
Alpha Hydroxy may improve the appearance of scars, but does not work on some types of scars.
Bio oil. Many people recommended using this. It helps lighten the scar.
Coconut butter works like bio oil.
Facts:
Camouflage make up is denser and thicker than cosmetic make up.
There are 3 basic types of this make up:
Camouflage concealer is used like an ordinary concealer.
Color corrector adjusts to the color of the scar you want to hide.
Contouring camouflage is used to cover up areas difficult to hide.
