How to Write a Job Transfer Request
No matter which type of industry you are in, there may come a point in your career when you would not want to settle for the current position that you have at work.
For such an instance, you will need to write a job transfer request. Some tips are mentioned below:
State the reason for your job transfer request.
There are two separate instances when you would be writing a job transfer request. The first one is when you are applying for a posted position. This would more or less serve as a part of the internal hiring or internal application process. If there is a higher or more interesting job opening posted for your company, make sure to let your boss know that you are interested in the position before they even hire externally.
The second reason for writing a job transfer request has a more personal nature. For example, if there is an illness in the family and you need to move to a different area where your company is also operating, indicate in the job transfer request that you wish to remain with the company but you need to move due to personal or location-related reasons.
Draw attention to your accomplishments and experience.
It does not matter if you are applying for a position on another location or if you are trying to move up the corporate ladder. Your job transfer request should be similar to a resume that objectively highlights your abilities as an employee. Also, you should stress the fact that your familiarity and experience with the company would make you an excellent asset as you continue to grow with the business.
Praise the company and focus on the things that you can do for the business by remaining with them.
You can show praise and appreciation without sounding patronizing. Simply state how efficient you think the company has been operating, how supportive they are to the employees and how you would like to grow with them as the company grows. Make a concise list of the positions within the company that you handled in the past and how these tasks have prepared you for the position that you are requesting to be transferred to.
Offer training for the one who will replace you
Offer to handle the training of the individual who will handle your current position if you will be granted the job transfer request.

Write the letter in a business format. Reread, edit and revise your letter if necessary. A good job transfer request letter from you may just be the extra push that your boss needs to finally take notice of the work that you have been doing in the past.
