Unprepared for the winter season, you are in some obscure corner of your home and shivering. Snow starts to cover the driveway of your home. A fireplace sounds nice but you don’t have any wood and you definitely do not have enough money to even purchase a thick fur coat. You need a budget-friendly item that can shield your shaking torso from the cold. You must make a sweater so that you will feel a little warmth this winter.
A sweater is a thick long-sleeved shirt that is specially made for cold environments. Made from partially porous fabric, the sweater is built to hug the body so that the wearer is protected from the cold. It is also crafted to provide comfort, which is why wearers will not feel too warm if they wear a sweater in moderately cold places. If you plan to make one, you should focus on the fit and your choice of fabric for the sweater, otherwise it will be nothing more than a plain long-sleeved t-shirt.
Knitting is the most ideal way to produce a sweater. You should have enough knitting skills to produce table runners and pillow cases if you want to make a very nice sweater.
Materials Used:
yarn (preferably wool) – about 2000 yards
2 knitting needles
scissors
knitting pattern
2 crochet hooks
Purchase the Materials
The first step for this project is to gather all of the materials that you will need to knit a sweater. You can get the knitting needles and a book of knitting patterns from a knitting store. As for the other materials, they can all be found in a reputable needlework store. You can actually get all the items in one short visit to the mall so you should not encounter any problems with this procedure.
The Photocopier Phase
When you have all the materials with you, look at all the sweater designs provided by your book of knitting patterns and photocopy your knitting pattern of choice. If you want to incorporate more than one design on your sweater, have the knitting patterns of all the designs photocopied. Bond paper is much easier to carry around than a thick book, which explains all the trips to the photocopier.
Knitting Pattern Review
Once you have all the knitting patterns that you need, review each one of them carefully. You will notice that a knitting pattern tells you all the materials that you will need to produce a garment or pattern and how you can actually produce the pattern shown. You simply have to follow the knitting pattern step by step, until you produce all the patterns that you desire on your sweater.
Through Knit and Needle
When you are ready for some needlework, get your yarn and your knitting needles, then create the neckline area of your sweater using a garter stitch. You can use a pair of crochet hooks to provide a good set-up for the body section of your sweater when you are done with the neckline. Use the stockinet stitch to produce the body and arm sections of your sweater. If you are feeling quite creative, you can interchange different knitting stitches. Do not forget to refer to your knitting patterns for the designs on your sweater. Once done, create the cuffs of your sweater with the garter stitch. Apply the same scheme when you stitch the bottom portion of your sweater.
At this point, your sweater is finished. You can finally embrace the cold weather along with your loved ones this winter season.
