The wooden bed frame is one of the main components of a good night sleep. Its wooden limbs hold the entire bed steady as you doze off to your dream world. Sturdily built, a top quality bed frame can easily support heavy people. It also keeps its occupants safe from the harmful diseases that come from dirty and dusty floors. Even with the most comfortable cushions, you may not consistently get to your sleepy sanctuary if you do not have a wooden bed frame.
The wooden bed frame is made of treated hardwood, which is why it can carry large amounts of weight. Its wooden boards and planks are nailed tightly together as each wooden component is doused in varnish and hardening solution. As you make your own wooden bed frame, you should be aware of these details to make sure that your soon-to-be bed will not give way after a few years. Remember that an exceptionally built wooden bed frame should last longer than a decade.

Gather the Tools and Materials
Your first job is to gather up all the materials needed for the construction of your wooden bed frame. List down the all the wooden pieces that you need on a piece of paper then go to a lumber store. Hand the paper to the salesperson and ask him to deliver the wood to your home. Now, you can proceed to a hardware store to get all the carpentry tools that to construct the bed frame. When all the tools and materials are ready, you can commence the building process of your bed frame.
Headboard
Saw and chisel the hardwood board to create your 68-inch headboard. Feel free to construct a shape and pattern of your choice. If you are not in the mood to come up with designs, you can simply make a plain rectangular headboard. Get some sandpaper and smooth the entire structure. Once done, nail the left and the right ends of the headboard to a high density peg.
Side Railings
To create the side railings of your bed frame, saw a couple of planks (80 x 18 in) and line them up horizontally on each end of the headboard. Smooth both planks with the a few strips of sandpaper. Now you can nail the planks to each high density peg that holds the headboard. Check if the planks are tightly connected to the peg. After checking the connection, you can hammer a few nails if the connection needs to be strengthened further.
End Board
First, saw a 68-inch rectangle from your hardwood board. Remember that the appearance of your end board should complement your headboard. You can sketch a few patterns on a piece of paper and select the best one. When you have chosen a design, get your hammer and chisel to manipulate the shape of your end board. Be careful when etching patterns because a slight mistake can ruin the design of your entire end board. When you are done, nail the ends of the end board to a couple of high density wooden pegs then nail the pegs to the free ends of the side railings.
Bed Surface
The bed surface acts as the primary cushion carrier of a bed. Ideally, it should be durable enough to support multiple people. Be sure that your medium density pegs are top quality for them to provide optimum durability.
To build your bed surface, spread the fifteen pegs horizontally within the bed’s side railings. Use a mechanical drill to bore holes on the side railings and the ends of each peg. Connect each peg to the side railings with the use of your screws. If you do not feel confident with how each peg is connected, you can use nails for added reinforcement.
Finishing Touches
At this point, you are almost done with your bed frame. Look for rough edges throughout the structure and use your sandpaper to smooth them down. Once done, apply a hardening solution and varnish to the entire bed frame so that it can withstand drastic temperature changes. You can now rest easy since you are going to have an exceptionally made bed frame when the varnish and the hardening solution dry.
You can call the wooden bed frame your bed cushion’s cushion. The bed frame’s mixture of hardwood boards and planks are more than enough to provide support to the bed cushion. Apparently, you can always rely on hardwood to give you the truth behind every “Good Night!” greeting.
