Pure water does not conduct electricity. This is because the ions required for the conduction of electricity are not found in pure water. But in pure water , water carries electricity if the presence of sufficient ions can be confirmed. If salt , alkali , acid, etc. are added to pure water, it dissolves in water and produces ions. Water is conductive as this ion can conduct electricity. That is, if the presence of sufficient amount of ions in pure water can be ensured, it conducts electricity.
