Anecdotally, I would say “No.” Chinese red yeast rice combined with Co-Q-10 and Omega 3 gel caps do a much better job. Some companies have stopped either manufacturing or importing Chinese red yeast rice, but I use it regularly. So do a lot of people I know. Reputable places like Solgar and Nature’s Way sell it, both on-line and in retail stores. It is a natural statin and, like Rx statins, you have to have liver funtion blood work done every six months. It also helps to eat well and exercise regularly. Since I have started the multi-faceted programs, I have cholestrol numbers to drool over. PM me if you want suggested doses, etc. Read about these products online, also. Use reputable sites like The Mayo Clinic, NIH, and CDC.
