Most songs by either Elliott Smith or Cocteau Twins have had a medicative effect on me during moments of deep reflection. There is a song called ‘Ziggy’ by Celine Dion that has also held great meaning for me due to the composition of melody as well as the story that it tells. According to the mood, I could find the avant-garde musical themes of Philip Glass more compelling than Jeru the Damaja, but I tend to have broader taste than most, I think. Being firm about choosing just one, I would say that Coutances by Dick Annegarn has been a touching ‘sing song’, lately.
