From my dad. He was a complicated guy with a very high sense of justice and equality. He actually lost his career as a truck driver (black balled) for standing up for civil rights. He talked about the horrors of inequality often from the time I was born I think. (I’m 50 now so it was a hot issue in the ‘60s.) He was also a “separate but equal” guy and would blow his top if his daughters even hinted at having a minority boyfriend.
