answer:In my experience, “shoot the messenger” comes from the recipient of the message, not from the subject. If the person you are reporting against is causing trouble, that should also be reported to the person in authority. Perhaps I have misunderstood. By “calling out” do you mean you are reporting their behavior to an authorized third party?
