When we teach them to say, “Thank you,” I think we’re also teaching them the beginning emotion of gratitude when they’re young. I think it’s important to teach tolerance, too. To teach them to do nice things for others without expecting a reward. Critical thinking skills are important. I used to tell my kids ridiculous stuff sometimes, then ask them if they thought it was a fact or fiction. We’d go through the process of determining that. GQ, @jca.
