If the person was a profitable enough, or well known enough athlete, yes. Just look at all the crap some of the NFL players have gotten away with. That one fellow, whose name escapes me, the one who knocked out his girlfriend in the elevator, he was not going to be charged, because he claimed that she fell down and hit her head or something. It was not until the footage from inside the elevator showed that he beat her and knocked her out and dragged her, that he got in trouble. And then there’s Kobe Bryant, who raped his wife, and he’s pretty much a big superstar still.
