Why Li2CO3 decomposes at a lower temperature whereas Na2CO3 at higher temperature ?

1 Answer

Answer :

Ans.Li2CO3 is a salt of a weak acid (CO2) and a weak base (LiOH). Since the weak base cannot attract CO2 Strongly, therefore, Li2CO3 decomposes at a lower temperature. On the other hand ,NaOH is a Much stronger base than LiOH and hence can attract CO2 more strongly.
