There are a few methods for removing old wall paper. In my experience the best route is to use a wallpaper steamer. These machines apply hot steam to the wall to heat up, moisten, and loosen the old paper so you can then scrape it off. At times it will come down in sheets but with many layers you probably will have to scrape a lot of it. The other common way to do this is to purchase wall paper stripper at the local hardware store and strip it down. This can be more time consuming and frusterating though. For very old wallpaper using some glue remover and a scrapper will be the best way. This can be a time consuming and tedious task.
