What are some common treatments for osteoporosis?

1 Answer

Answer :

The problem with osteoporosis is that the early stages of the disease are asymptomatic. Women are not aware of the disease until it is fairly advanced. Osteoporosis is the thinning of bone tissue and the subsequent loss of bone density that is associated with age. There are a number of oral medications, some taken daily or weekly, and one that is taken monthly (Boniva), as well as injectable medications, that help slow the thinning of bone tissue. Some of these medications can also be used to prevent osteoporosis in women with a family history of the disease.
